I fancy having a go at making a wheel truing jig using an old pair of forks; is this as easy as it seems in my head or are there unforseen pitfalls waitng for me to tumble headlong into them?

Has anyone else done this? Tips? Hints?

on the old stw forum there was to be a guide on how to make one with some wood .

maybe you can ask overthere is the member who did it is still around .

PM me your email address and I'll send you a pdf with a few different ways to make a top notch wooden one that fits all size wheels etc..

As used by that bikepro bloke.

Or spend £9 and get an up to date version of that.

Forks are fine, but not brilliant as the forks themselves need be straight ;) and I've found (though still use  ) Allen keys and rules strapped to my frames/forks to true them

It not the quickest or easiest way to do the job though.

If you use spokes and nipples taped on you can screw the nipples in or out so you don't have to readjust the tape holding the allen key/ruler!
