Magura's on U brake frame??

Hey folks,

Couldn't find a "tech question" forum anywhere, so let's chat about it. :)

Wondering if Magura rim brakes can be fitted onto a frame with U-brake posts on it?
Not having any Magura's to test fit with, and my brain not to cooperative with the mental gymnastics required, just wondering if anybody could give me a 'yay' or 'nay' on the subject.

Have a nice frame in the garage that I pulled the U-brake off of for another build, and think it might be easier to find a set of Maguras than another U-brake (plus Magura's are kick-a$$ in terms of power) to resurrect the donor bike.

Cheers,

Mike

What's the frame Mike? Nice roller cams come up for sale quite often for not too much money

It's an '89 RM Stratos....also stole the 1" steerer fork off of it for the other build.

Re:

It doesn't work on all frames though!

Perversely, it didn't work on my old 1992 GT Psyclone [which was 19" and sold] but did work on my 1992 GT Avalanche [which is 18" and kept].

Which I though was interesting - although bloody annoying at the time!

Might be worth borrowing a set, or picking up a battered cheap set to test with first rather than finding out a nice set doesn't fit...

Re:

as told a few posts before.

Sweet! Now I see.... :)

Thanks folks.
Now just need to try and find a super long steerer tube 1" fork for a 7" headtube bike

Re:

I was also considering putting Magura on a ubrake Sbike I have :D
@wtb_rider is it alos possible to add the brake brace when the brake is upside down? and if not does it affect the braking not having one ?
Thanks

You can't fit the brake brace, but frankly the Maguras have so much power AND pad travel they will be able to lock up with no trouble anyway. My thin-stayed Marin flexes a lot at the back but there is still loads of braking reserve.
