Want to do a bit of a poll on what you guys running Magura rim brakes think with regards pads.
I'm baffled by the many different types available. Any colour I fancy, it seems.
What do the colours and compounds mean?
I know a seller on ebay has a 'guide' to the colours, but it tells me very little other than 'trials'!
What pads are best for what rims?
I run standard pads on ceramic rims and want more grip, especially in the wet. I may as well not have brakes in long wet grassy spells. Tomorrow is the first trial of Green frog pads, but they're not cheap at £21.99 for a set of 4.
Any ideas, alternatives or explanations welcome.

Black for polished rims - good all round pad
Grey for hard ano/ceramic rims
Green - race pad for hard ano/ceramic rims
Red - race/trials pad for polished rims (stop like f**k but dont last long)

All the above are official Magura. You can also get aftermarket stuff that's REALLY sticky if you ride trials (yellow Monty's, red HeatSinks, clear green Cousts etc...all last 5 mins)

(I run Kool Stops (red) all the time)

Thanks.
I tried the Green frog Magura pads today up in Grizedale forest.
They really do make a difference. No matter how muddy or wet the rim was it just managed to bite. they were braking hard in 8 inches of water! The other pads would never allow that.
Is there a cheaper (but equally as good) alternative?

I use red all the time on my ceramic rims, try to avoid using my brakes whenever possible, but when I really need 'm they're there

ps the clear "Monty" trial ones perform way better even........but tend to melt on long descents while braking  :!:

Green Frog should cost you £14.99 for 4 the same as Kool Stop (red)....where are you paying £21 from?

Leisure Lakes in Preston.
I've had a good few years as well. I bought them with my Maguras and then left them in the box, as I thought I'd try the Black ones first. After V brakes, they seemed fantastic and wasn't aware that the green ones would give them a new lease of life.
Where are you seeing them at £14.99? I've searched online and couldn't see any!
