Hi - whilst preparing my bike for The Big Dirty Weekend I managed to split the U bend pipe on back brake. Bought the kit - fitted etc - but having problems bleeding (I think).
Followed instructions and have done 3 times now - and in reverse - i.e vent on rear rather than lever. The last time I was convinced I had flushed all air, checked for leaks etc but the lever is nearly touching the grip before full lock is achieved - and just generally feels "slack" Both sides (blocks)move ok - maybe the one on the cylinder side a little slower than the other. Blocks are close enough to rim....so whats going on.????

Help much appreciated urgently :(

Have you adjusted the lever to fully open? Reset it to adjuster being completely off.

Are you following the correct sequence of pipe fitting and removal to maintain the vacuum? If not, then air will enter the system.

Try these first, and come back to me.

Will have another crack at it this afternoon. So messy though - how you are meant to get a full syringe and tube screwed into a tight space without the tube coming off the syringe etc is frustrating to say the least.

Will report back.

Fear not. I have a bleed kit and magura blood in my tool box and will happily sort them for you when you get to the campsite.

Si

:D Thanks for the advice and offer of help, but I cracked it tonight. It was down to me not winding out the pad adjust screw and been generally in too much of a hurry. A chilled beer, radio on and slow yet precise surgery did the trick on the rear brake. I even went for the front too - good job as the liquid was a dirty black colour - urgh! So brakes now work as good as new.

Thanks again :D
