Hi all
Rejigging the brakes on the tandem as it is now setup with my little man on the back I am looking to put both rear brake controls to the front. So to that end I am looking for a set of Mafac brake levers but the tandem version that has the dual cable on one side.
Happy even just with the dual lever and I can find a match somewhere for the standard one.
Any help appreciated.

Jamie

Got some Diacompe 287s with the tandem double. These are the type with a bit more cable pull for low-profile cantis.

Say £20 posted, with new brown hoods?

Re:

Hi mate, thanks for the reply.
I’m not familiar with the Dia Compe version, but sounds good. Is there a chance of a photo to see how they compare/work?
Cheers

Just yesterday I got a broken dual lever and a good single tandem lever. They are not the same - not even the single - as all the other "normal" Mafac levers I have; the curve is different, and the tandem single has a larger adjuster hole and takes an adjuster with a larger small section (this is a Good Thing as all the normal Mafac ones break at the skinny part); and the access from behind the lever is larger (also a Good Thing when you have to get more than one cable in there).

The part that was broken was the lever itself; I have transplanted the dual-nipple bit into the single lever and put the pair in the dual-housing. The dual housing is missing one of the chrome-plated ferrules; I'm turning a replacement out of stainless; so it will be what you need - one side, anyway.

I haven't posted enough to be able to pm you; can't be bothered posting drivel just to reach whatever target it is, so you'll have to pm me an email address.

edit: ferrule done - pics...
