M Trax Ti 2000

Hi There. Just bought an Mtrax ti2000 as a project. Never rebuilt a bike before but have just succesfully restored the RC35 Forks. They look like new. Not sure what I should start on next. Got to fit new tyres and then on to the Gears any ideas what I need to do with these? Shimano STX 21 speed I think. Help!

crickey......thats a broad question......as a basic rule presuming nothing is broken or bent,just old.......strip and regrease hubs,headset and bottom bracket dependant on type,and replace cables and outers......that will be a starting point......do you have tools/knowledge to attempt this???.....welcome by the way!!

Ok will start on that. How do I identify what gear set I have? By the way have to say Tim at ForkEnglish is a top bloke. Very helpful and happy to assist if you want to do work yourself.

each component will have a model name or number on it somewhere.....are you changing components or using those already on the bike??......make sure the mechs are set up properly using the upper and lower limit screws before recabling them,ahave a look to make sure the wheels are running true and adjust accordingly.....i would also remove and regrease any components that may have sat together for a long time,most notably seat pin and stem,to prevent them corroding and binding into place....the bike should run like new then......just got to go get it muddy!!!.......i am happy to help if you get stuck or need advice,i have sent you a private message with my number....give me a ring if you need to.....

take a picture and post it on here, should be able to id the components and year of manufacture. Or have a trawl though the gallery archive above and find the catalogue could have a full spec list in it. Oh and welcome

Thanks all! Will ID gears and let you know. I am looking forward to getting it running! Wheels are good and seem to be ok. I will add some photos tomorrow but can't seem to do it from iPhone now! Great to know help is here if I need it!

Here is a picture of the forks all cleaned, new top seals and elastomers, greased and ready to go. On to the gears next Shimano STX Hyperdrive C. Cleaning wheels over weekend and fitting new tyres. What do I need to do to the headset. Do I need to remove the bearings clean and regrease?

STX RC Brakes

Hi All

Forks are done, wheels cleaned up new tyres and inners. Now starting to reassemble front brakes. I have got STX RC brakes and pads are fixed on by a bolt with two thick, shaped washers. Can these be replaced? if so where can I buy them?
