Lovely original Rock Hopper - just a hundred quid now!

It's the last three bikes I bought that I told her I would move on that still hits a nerve with her for some reason. Oh, and the chain marks I inadvertantly put on the new carpet whilst trying to set-up my rear mech on the Gazelle..... Oh, and the fact I threw out all her gardening gear to make space in the shed. Women eh? Just being difficult for the sake of it :(

I always wanted one of these as a lad! Sorely tempted to buy it, what do they ride like?

Are you sure I'm the best person to ask...?

This one's a bit big for me I'm afraid so I've not been off-road in anger on it :( Best impression is that it's very relaxed - that's relaxed as in friendly & helpful, as oppose to slow-steering - just getting on with the job without any histrionics, typical Specialized I guess! Smooth is the other thing that comes to mind, unruffled...

There's an original (but damaged) fork-pump on it's way to me now too, just to pass on with the bike - assuming I can fix it up! They work perfectly with an ordinary football-type adapter (50p), but, well, y'know  :D

I'm sure he won't mind me mentioning, Alex (Dead Rats on here) has built a couple of them for friends & ended up keeping them for himself as he got so attached to them! That's got to be a good sign (he nearly nabbed this one but it would've been bad for his health bringing another bike into the house!)

You're very welcome to pop round & give it a ride, whereabouts are you?

Thats the trouble, im down south so can't pop round. I think i'll take a chance and buy it. If I don't get on with it I can always sell it on. Im after an easy(ish) project to get me started and this looks to be just the thing. Are you ok to post please?

LOL....
Been sweet talking the missus all weekend to finally break the strong resistance so if Nathanman ain't having this I will take it...
