Lost in the Post.

Costs nothing to get a proof of posting.

No reason not to get one, in my opinion.

True. But the counter staff i find don't like giving them out  Every time i ask the wife to post some thing and get a proof they always tell her some Jackaknory. Last time it was they has stop that service. I go in and get a load of proof slips The counter staff then put the rest under the counter so can't be seen

I ordered some stuff on ebay, didn't arrived. PMd the seller and they refunded straight away. Few weeks later it turns up so I messaged the seller asking them to re-invoice me, they told me to keep it.

Only a couple of quid involved but hey I had a clear conscience and free stuff :D

I am inclined to believe the item is genuinely lost in the post, as the seller has 100% feedback, is a top rated seller and has no negative or even neutral feedback, but as to Royal Mail, they I get differing levels of service from. One postie moans at me for the parcels I get, I tell him people like me are keeping him in work and if doesn't like his job, go and find another. A another postie lives down our street, knows me and when she notices stuff for me, she brings it around instead of the next days post.

But as an example of good service, in Sweden I ordered something online, next morning it was with me, superb service, here, I get the impression that many who work for Royal Mail just couldn't care less.

Well Its looking like Ive lost a rear mech that I sold to a site member on here (Ive already refunded him BTW).
And Ive also lost some tools I bought from a site member on here.
Both being in the post about the same time. :(

.

I had a couple of purchases go AWOL before Christmas, I'd love to know where all these packages end up??
to their credit the sellers refunded or re-sent the items.

Lost an item as a seller too last year, buyer was patient and eventually it turned up..... a month late!!! And it was sent Recorded too!

If you read carefully, then 1st class post can take up to a few weeks to arrive (or something like that) before the Post Office will consider it to be "lost".

Now I always get proof of posting or send it signed for delivery, and always ensure it is covered by insurance.

I sent a front mech to wadsy on here first class recorded on 30th december and he got it last week . :?

Of the several hundred parcels, packets and boxes ive sent over the last few years only 2 have vanished.
I ONLY send recorded and keep telling people on here to do likewise for piece of mind.
Yet i still receive for here, items sent standard parcels

:x either heads up arses of they just dont give a toss.

I won some Azonic body armour on eBay on the 14th December, apparently posted on the 15th and still not arrived.

The seller did NOT get proof of postage or send it signed for which is stupid IMO.

I have been refunded on the 16th January.

The thing is I got the armour for a brilliant price and I can guarantee that another set will not turn up for anywhere near the same price.

Even though I have been refunded, I feel like I have been "done"!

Oh and I am waiting for my brake pads & grips from Superstar Components which I ordered on the 2nd January.

Really peed off with the whole situation now.

With me, the vendor did not send the parcel in any other way than just general mail, which I think is unusual for a cycle shop, and there leaves a space open for me to think did they send it at all. A reason for that thought, was I also got the item ridiculously cheap, which with ebay, is the chance vendor's take. I have been offered a refund by the shop, but if the shop is playing fair, it is hardly fair to them to lose money and goods because of a lousy postal service.

I have known it before, and I have heard of it, some posties are not entirely honest in the course of their work, I do wonder if we are victims of a thieving postal operator.
