Looking for advice on where to move!

The home counties are yours, sir.
Have you considered Essex? Lots of nice countryside, and rather overlooked, IMO.

high wycombe? you're near m40 and m4 which will take you to wales and is not that far from london, road or train and its in bucks for work. and you got some green around you.

otherwise try the surrey hills, dorking area. but that would make your commute crap.

Didn't notice you work in Bucks.
Essex is still lovely though.
How about Reading, or one of the villages around it? Sonning Common, Woodcote, Henley all spring to mind. Not cheap though, that's why I live on a boat.

Train routes from London to the north Chiltern Hills

The hills around Wendover in Buckinghamshire is where English Mountain biking started. It's also where the 'Cleland' English mountain bikes evolved in the 1970s.

You can get there via Baker St. or Marylebone stations in London.

An alternative train route to this area of the Chiltern hills is from Euston station and getting off at either Berkhamsted station (about 35 minutes) or Tring station (about 40 minutes).

Euston Station also has links to North Wales via Crewe.

I moved down from Llandudno to just outside Reading on the edge of the Chilterns, I thought it would be c**p but actually I really like it now. The fast train into Paddington is under 30 minutes. There's good road riding to be had and the bridleways aren't too bad either Bracknell forest is close too.

You can get on the M40 easily to drive back to Wales from this area. My mate goes back to Anglesea every other weekend from here!

Just noticed this. Will check out Wendover! It's hard finding somewhere that's going to cost my girlfriend about £12 a day to travel to College.

Cheers for the help!

Possibly a bit far out for both of you, But I am about to move from Wantage in south Oxfordshire. Close to the ridgeway for pleasant offroad action, and links up to the chilterns. Looking at 45 minutes from didcot on a fast train into paddington. I currently do the train thing and a monthly season ticket sets me back £383.70 which works out as £12.35 per day (admitably assuming you travel every day-which obviously your not.)

More cost effective if you buy longer season tickets, but the initial outlay is huge. an annual ticket will equate to roughly £10 per day, but does require a frankly shocking £3996 upfront purchase.

(all prices based on standard class)

Any way, thought the pricing would be of use to you. I imagine the ticket price drops if you go for the reading area.
