The older XC's had 1 1/4" and 1 1/8" steerer, means 33,00 and 30,15 mm in the crown (the steerer are a little bit thicker at the bottom).

A 1" steerer does not have 1 1/8" base, you need a shim for it.
How long do you need the steerer? Threaded?
