' thought you might be interested in my '93 Lava Dome which I built up for riding when I'm back in England.
I bought it from a mate who got it new for his girlfriend [now wife], but it quickly became a winter trainer around Thetford Forest before being robbed for spares and finding it's way to Spain.
When I got the frame in 2006 I gave it a rattle can respray and a parts bin build.
In 2007 I returned it to the UK and I have been using it for off road rides plus a 300 mile road tour of Cornwall.
September 2009 saw it being taken to Mario at Vaz Finishes to get a 2nd brake cable stop fitted before getting a respray and a new decal set.
I had to wait a year before I could get back to the UK and collect it so on my way from Gatwick I went straight to collect my "new" bike. Mario was kind enough to stop what he was doing and fitted the outboard bearings and headset for me F.O.C. this saved me bringing some heavy tools in my baggage allowance, great service from VAZ as always.
The rest of the build up had to be completed on my relatives lawn, of course it rained constantly and I spent a lot of time looking out of the kitchen window drinking coffee and itching to get outside.
As soon as it was finished I took it for it's shake down ride over Greenham Common, I'd forgotten what a great single track ride Konas with P2s are, I'd also forgotten about wet roots too!
During my time left in England I rode a couple of three and a half hour rides only just having time to wash it in the dark and put it away wet before leaving for the airport.
Anyway, here's some pictures, what do you think?
