How long will it take to get from Paddington to Liverpool st assuming no hold ups.Thanks.jm.

That TfL planner should sort you out. Probably best to avoid this site, though:

:)

On a serious note, the National Rail site usually allows 40-60 mins for transfer between main line London termini which as you're going west to east sounds about right (to Notting Hill Gate by District/Circle or Bakerloo to Oxford Circus then pick up the Central in either case). North-south is usually quicker and I have done Euston-Victoria in around a quarter of an hour before now!!

But give your self plenty of time as public transport in London is sh*t. Non stop cancelations/delays ever since i can remember it's been the same and it will always be sh*t
Get a car

No love for the Hammersmith and City Line?

Public transport in London is amazing, if you think how long such a journey would take you otherwise, or the hassle involved when you can just sit there and watch the stations pass by.

Until recently I did this regularly on my Exeter to Brentwood journey.

Go on the south western Mainline from Bournemouth into Waterloo these days so have to change at Bank for Liverpool St. Get the Shenfield metro from there.

Yeah I was going to say the public transport in london just works, it is the one place in the country where public transport from a travelers point of view is simply efficient.

Getting a car in London is the most pointless waste of money, mine sat unused at works subterranean carpark for a full 12 months before I decided to sell it instead of re-taxing & insuring it. Simply madness if you are central.

Taking a car from Paddington to liverpool street would take you an age, the tube should take you 35-40 minutes (I used to do Paddington to Aldgate east twice daily on the hammersmith & city)

The only faster way is by bike!

Public transport in London is sh*t - delays endless, closed for maintenance most weekends.

Want to see public transport work go to Japan. Excellent either old trains or modern never late and safe.

I was in Tokyo in late January. There was an inch of snow and the place ground to a halt. I have never seen anyone 30 minutes late for meetings there before!

Good to know it's not just us!!!

I'm puzzled why people complain about maintenance. The problem is that for the previous 50 years far from enough had been done. The Northern line had speed restrictions for 40 years in some parts due to 'temporary' problems with track condition that were never attended to.
