It's funny how different forums have different attitudes to this, and indeed people have different attitudes too. Some are scared because of security issues :? :?

One forum i frequent ( http://www.forum.205gtidrivers.com ) have made it madantory to set your location.

Not trying to force anything, just wondered what peoples opinions was on this.

I don't see it as a problem.

If I told you what city I lived in there'd still be 35-40,000 places you'd have to look.

Some people are just paranoid because of the over-exaggeration about identity theft. As with all things as long as you use your common sense then you should be OK.

I don't have a problem. you would know it's me by the bike. Probably the only Trimble still being used in London (some body prove me wrong. Please)

Security issues

I bought a tv dongle thing recently, and because it's technically a tv you have to give name and address to check licence. So the girl in Comet had my CC number my name and my address, and it's sitting on that computer until it gets replaced and then you have to trust the company to delete that data properly.

I took something back to maplin a while ago, they wanted my name and address, i said bugger off i just want my refund, he didn't seem to understand that i don't want my details to sit on that computer, even though aparently it only sits on that computer and knowhere else.... yes but what happens when it gets replaced? Or a temp worker comes in...blah blah These are the security issues.

I remember when internet shopping was just kickin off and people were worried about writing their cc details on the internet (totally secure digital transaction) but quite happily hand their card over some chap at the petrol station, who now has your name, your car registration number, your cc number and in the days of signitures, he has all he needs to clone a card!
