Went to the Doctor's today to have a blood test.

Just before sticking the needle in the Nurse said "you'll feel a little scratch". I said that that was better than feeling a little prick and she said that all nurses and doctors had been told to stop using that phrase to avoid embarrassment.

Pity, I always used to like it when they spoke dirty

Reminds me of a time I gave blood as an undergraduate at the permanent donor centre in the middle of Sheffield, and overheard the following exchange:

Nurse: "Could I have your surname please?"
Donor: "Pratt."

I was having a ruddy great needle put in my arm at the time - I didn't dare chuckle!
