We've been looking into the possibility of ordering some special edition Retrobike courier bags and now that we have a quote would like to guage interest.

The bags are from http://bagaboo.hu/en who do top quality work - see here for more examples. Unfortunately we don't have a sample but the bags will be black with the large Retrobike logo prominent across the flap.

We're looking at approx. £130 delivered to your door for a Medium, £140 delivered for a Large (these are UK prices, would estimate a little more oustide the UK to reflect higher postage costs) and would have to order a minimum of six to get these prices. Lead in time is approximately 6 weeks from placing the order and we'd have to have cash up front.

So, poll away!

nope , my boss is too inquisitive and would check the web site straight away and see that I spend too much time on here .

would timbuktu make one? £130 is a bonkers price for a courier bag! for my motorbike i use a Boblbee that was £150 but its a bit more substantial and is 100% water tight.

It's a thought as the Bagaboo one is not cheap but it is fully custom and includes all shipping, VAT and printing costs. We can look at other options and suggestions are always welcome but true custom will cost (as with frames I guess).

I've had a look at a custom Timbuk2 bag and for a non printed Large size you're looking at $120. Then add shipping, VAT, set up of the printed large Retrobike logo on the bag and posting out once in the UK and I expect it would be very similar if not more.

We are looking at more economical options as it seems from the poll that there are plenty of people interested but that the price is a sticking point, more anon.

great idea but to much for grabs,..i do not need one so i won't be buying one just for fun with this price

Interested but (and I'm genuinely not being awkward here, I know nothing about 'bag technology') can you tell me why these are worth twice the price of nearly all the bags I can buy in my LBS or on Wiggle etc, or is it just a 'label' thing that has passed me by?

Is there a " VAST " size available?

Not sure about a VAST size available but I can get a quote if you are interested in the biggest size - PM me if that would help)

What is something 'worth', the eternal philosophical question? You can buy a plain Bagaboo bag for less and it will have the same functionality, as will a Crumpler, Chrome, Timbuk2 etc? But what price style?

More seriously, the reason why these are more expensive is the custom design - lots of people can have a Bagaboo bag, very few a Retrobike bag. A Bagaboo Large bag costs approx. 90 Euros from Bagaboo plus £25 for VAT plus postage to the UK. Postage in the UK is extra. Whether you think having the Retrobike styling is worth the premium it is of course up to you - think of it like custom paint on a frame and you'll know whether this is something you value or not.
