Just bought my first road bike - it's lovely (and light) but ever the weight weenie, I'm looking at a few weight-saving upgrades. At the moment my priorities are:

  • A Dura Ace 10-speed cassette, 11-28 or thereabouts. NOW SORTED THANKS

A lightweight 34.9 Seat clamp (allen bolt, not QR). Ideally something like a KCNC or a Woodman Death Grip, silver/grey if possible. NOW SORTED THANKS

A seatpost in 31.6 x >280mm. Something like an Easton EC70, Ritchey WCS or a USE Alien perhaps? Could use a shim if required. NOW SORTED THANKS

A stem for an oversize 31.8 bar. Length between 80 and 100mm - NOW SORTED THANKS

A decent 700c wheelset. Might not have the budget for this at the moment, but I can see what's around and could be tempted by something that offered good value. NOW SORTED THANKS

A pair of allen bolt skewers, Ti really. NOW SORTED THANKS

Happy to listen to offers of anything else that might save me some weight here and there but I'm already sorted for brakes and gears.

Cheers :)

Re: Lightweight 31.6 seatpost & 31.8 stem + road bits

Hey, I have the following:

Thomson Elite black inline seatpost 31.6 x 287mm (mint, uncut road length) c/w new bag – £30 posted

FSA SL-280 black seatpost 31.6 x 300mm, used – £10 posted

FSA OS150 white stem with black carbon faceplate 31.8 x 80mm, used – £12 posted

Happy to consider a deal if you want more than one item as I could post them together!

Re: Lightweight 31.6 seatpost & 31.8 stem + road bits

Cheers - I might bear the Thomson post in mind (the FSA SL280 is the model that's being replaced!!), could you tell me the measurement between the insertion line and the rails please?

Sure, it's 185mm in the middle

Re: Lightweight 31.6 seatpost & 31.8 stem + road bits

I've got a RF Cadence stem, 31.8 x 100mm, and plus or minus about seven degree rise/drop. In VGC , £13 posted.

31.6 Easton EC70, not sur how long it is, but should be more than 280mm (I will check)

Re: Lightweight 31.6 seatpost, skewers + other road bits

Now sorted for a stem but still looking for other parts as listed - weighing up a couple of different seatpost options.

Re: Lightweight road wheels + other road bits

Now sorted for a seatpost too, thanks. Next main priority is going to be a wheelset if I can afford it - something that will save me some weight on the 1900g set that's on the bike at the moment.

Re: Lightweight road wheels + other road bits

I've got a pair of these: http://www.grahamweighcycles.com/gwcsho ... roduct=461

I'd let them go for £140 posted…..they are in excellent condition…..slightly different to the ones in the pics as mine have red spoke nipples….I could add some Michelin Pro 4 tyres for another £20…..and an 11-28 SRAM 10 speed cassette for another £20 again (Cassette and tyres only used a couple of times)

Any good to you?
