Letting go

I'm in the same position as the OP.
I've been considering selling a few, but I can't decide which ones.

...So, to help me get closer to the perfect, downsized fleet, I bought another project 2 weeks ago...

My cheap run-around bikes get most use, TBH, and have most sentimental value. I have what was my all-time dream bike. It's stored in a different country & I rarely get to see it, let alone ride it

I'd go for the "if you regularly ride it, keep it - if not, sell it" rule of thumb.

Totally agree!

If you treat them like your own children (and why not? .... I suspect that this is not uncommon), then you would be depriving them if you didn't play with them regularly. If you can't find the time or inclination for this, then sell them to someone who will!

I was happy when I sold my last time trial bike and took a coshing of about £50 in selling it to someone who I knew would lavish more care on it than the other bloke who was going to treat it like a hack-iron.

Just make sure you have the local Retrobikers by before you send anything off into the wilderness........(100 items? Wow that's full time)

Well just been down the dump with two of my frames :(

Both Coyote HT2's. My original one, rode it for 15 years. It had cracks top and bottom on the head tube and had jubilee clips round both (don't ask)! Still, the best ride I've ever had (I know rose tinted specticles). The other was a recent HT2 purchased off Ebay - I was hoping to build it up, but just noticed it had a crack at the bottom as well. Seller was great, full refund, but still sad to see another HT2 go.

Still the HT5 is going well and looks good so far. But it anyone has a 20" HT2 without any cracks just lying around......
