So mephedrone was outlawed and now there's death by Ivory Wave..

Why are people so dumb that they'd have a bash at anything for a kick??

I'm fairly sure that a number of downhill mountain bikers would be a little disheartened, possibly upset/angry, at being put in the same category as scumbag junkies...

The thread is about drug abuse..

I get the adrenaline junkie thing, dabbled myself, but hardly think it can be compared to the mentality of a scummy smack-head..

It's all escapism of one form or another, probably similar biochemical reactions going on in the brain from adrenalin/endorphin as from many of the recreational drugs.

Not sure it's fair or correct to lump most recreational drug users as junkies either. It's a bit like saying all alcohol drinkers are alcoholics. Not really true and misleading.

The drug users in this instance (those who were cramming Mephedrone and are now opting for Ivory Wave) are a little further on than recreational drug users, generally... imo.

Recreational drugs. . . done that . . .

Prescription drug addiction. . . got that. . .

Fair enough, none of the reports I've seen/heard about RE:Ivory Wave have had anything on the background of the users. I just assumed they were the usual students/kids getting their kicks from clubbing and rec. drug use.

I should've probably learnt by now not to assume these things, maybe I'll just reserve judgement for now!

And you may well be right about the background of the punters for these products..

And there is probably a lot of sensationalising by the press too..

But apparently people have died, been sectioned, attended A&E due to psychotic episodes etc. etc.

Smoking a bit of weed or doing a bit of quality billy or charlie is one thing (and I know this may sound either contradictory or hypocritical) but these 'Legal Highs' are completely unknown cocktails of substances. . .
Imo you gotta be pretty dumb to indulge in those..

You weren't talking about scummy smack heads; they're a different case entirely. You were discussing legal (for now) highs taken by thrill seeking kids on a weekend.
