That's what happens when you don't eat your greens!!

When the apple tree above my shed puts its usuall autum/winter holes in the roof I just patch it with another bit of felt tacked into place roofing slate style. So far it seems to be working at keeping out the rain and it's got 4 patches now.

Took mine down today utter mare, rotten floor. We discovered the 'base' was just some slab placed on the grass with nothing under them! I have never seen anything like this. So that put paid to the plan of the new one being finished today. A trip to the dump to dispose of the old one followed by a trip to Wickes for 20 bags of ballast and 5 of cement (thankfully I have Ford Ranger) and next Saturday is now planned base building day and possibly Sunday as shed erection day.

Carl.

DPM doesn't like a lot of handling.

TBH, there is a reason why shed felt is used so much, it is cheap and effective and easy to apply.

If it is what you have already, then it is the easiest thing to repair it with.

Don't try to do it on the cheap, it'll only come back and bite you on the bum in a couple of years. :( :( . I speak as the owner of 2 sheds holding all my bike stuff, one of which is 72 years old, and neither has leaked for more than 10 years since I took my own advice.

Follow LGF's advice. Get the best/heaviest quality felt you can afford, your bikes will thank you for it if you store them in there.

What's surprised me (in a good way) is that I also store my leatherworking gear in there (along with my 'stock' of leather) and none of it has been affected by the damp..

To me that indicates the problem is relatively small.. so I'll just re-felt soon as I can 8)

Redid all my roof two years ago with shed felt from local timber place and about a billion clout nails. It only leaked in one place but thanks to sods law it was exactly where my jigsaw and drill were. Annoyingly, and I have no idea why, some got lifted in high winds and tore so I have had to redo that bit. When summer comes around I am going to redo it again with something a little more substantial and use some pitch to stick it down.
