Lathe question ?

I have a Zipp trispoke front wheel (100mm axle kit) and the hub shell has a threaded section so it can also be used as a rear wheel , does anyone know if this thread can be machined off to semi match the other side ? i can easily remove the "cover"

If you can take the hub out then yes. You'll lose the black anodised finish though, and probably destroy a lot of the resale value of the wheel. I'd probably try to talk you out of doing it unless there are clearance issues or there really is no other way of using it. I'm assuming it's a normal freewheel thread - could you use a normal track cover like a black Halo Fix-T to make it look like the other side?

you can take out the steel axle/bearings but not the alloy shell , i am going to paint the whole thing black so thought i could cover it then ? , I already have a rear with a painted alloy hub but the area with the "square threaded" looks silly IMO

the "NDS" has a taper that looks good IMO , the "DS" could be machined down similar but any cover would just be square ,I will post a vertical photo to show it better tomorrow (Oz time)
