But this
PP: The DiskUnit. It screwed on to the end of the Word axle and you mounted a disk brake caliper to it. Then there was an arm that went to your cantilever boss to anchor it all. We sold about 5, and kept a couple hundred around for a few years. When we moved in 08 they went in the scrap bin.

Wu really tried to get those rear mechs for us though

Interesting!

Did they rob the SJS bar-con thumbie mount design then, rather than the other way around...?

BB.

Very interesting about the thumbies, I have new found respect for the SJS thumbie mounts now (although I wouldnt swap my Pauls).

I really look forward to the 20 Q articles.

SJS thumbie mount was originally designed and manufactured by forge MTB components. I think SJS bought up all the remaining stock after forge closed up shop (aka the fella moved to another job away from the lathe). Dunno if SJS make their own now.

Correct, AFAIK.
The Forge mounts appeared on Singletrack years back and caused a bit of a stir... next thing you know, Paul's Comp has some - Surprising that PCE didn't spot the opportunity before, as it's a perfect product for them. But Paul has now developed it further with the 3 different SRAM/ Campag/ Shimano mounts.
