having a (common) problem with my wifi card
can anyone 'translate' this for me
i just cant get my head around it
i think its aimed at xp
im running windows 7 x64

Use Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility to Set CAM

Click Advanced > Adapter Settings > Advanced tab.
Select Power Management and uncheck Default / Auto and move the slider to Highest / Maximum Performance.
If the slider is already at Highest / Maximum Performance, move the slider to another setting and then back to Highest / Maximum Performance.

Use Network Control Panel Applet (NCPA) to Set CAM

Put the wireless adapter into Continuously Aware Mode using the following steps.

Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
Double-click Network Connections.
Right-click the wireless connection and click Properties.
Click Configure.
Click the Advanced tab.
Select the Power Management setting, uncheck Default / Auto and move the slider to Highest / Maximum Performance. Note: If the slider is already at Highest / Maximum Performance, move the slider to another setting and then back to Highest / Maximum Performance.

I think it means in basic english that it's asking you to turn the power up on the wifi signal searcher

yeah thats about right

is what i meant is
can someone translate it from xp? controls to 7 controls
as i cant seem to find what it says

Not sure if it will have the same settings as XP but try the following:

Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Device Manager (should be an option under Devices and Printers). Then navigate down to Network adapters and right click and select Properties of the intel wireless card. Check on the Advanced and Power Management tabs to see if you can find the setting you need.

have been playing with these settings for a while now
no luck
does anyone know of a definitive solution to this dodgy card??

Just as a for info type... On win7 if you type ncpa.cpl into the Start Run box you will see the good old Network Connections box rather than the awful Network and Sharing Centre...
