Hello,

Got this bike for free from my brother, he had it lying in his shed in bits for the last 10 years.
Looks to be in decent condition with all original parts although it needs a good clean.
Plan is to give it a minor rebuild and try and clean up all parts best i can, new saddle, bar tape and source a frame pump.
I think its late 70s? I think its quite a rare machine.

dating -

rear mech and chainset in keeping with OP date

did not exist in early 'lxx's

Juy mechs may show date marking as here:

date mark on Simplex front mech .webp simplex_prestige_derailleur_date_30ecbf4564d11ae4a69798356c19bf69c6bb9820.webp

cycle's wheel rims appear they may be Rigida Super Chromix

if so, they may exhibit date marking inside small diamond symbol as here:

of course cycle could have had fittings changed but does not appear so from here

wheel size -

judging by large clearances visible it may that that manufacturer employed same frame for models with 650B, 700c & 27" wheel with wheel size determining where canti bosses would be placed

the bicycle's Lyotard model 77R pedals launched in the '75-'77 time

here they are on a catalogue page dated 1977 -

forgot to mention above:

a seven speed gear block would tend to move the cycle's date well into the 1980's; of course we cannot be sure if it is original

it may be a "narrow" seven, i.e. seven in the space of six
in which case we would expect a rear spacing of the dropouts to be 126mm

possible gear block may be marked with date

it is likely to be Atom/Maillard/Normandy brand (all one company)
