I just spent the evening cleaning and tuning ready for a ride round Gisburn forest tomorrow and all the rubbing
and tweaking got me thinking how much I love my konas! I have ridden GT, Scott, Merlin Ti, Alpine Stars, etc etc (Steel, Alu, and Ti) but nothing I have ever ridden feels as "alive" as a steel rigid kona. I got back on the saddle of a Kilauea after 13 years and it felt as if I had only ridden yesterday! Other frames may feel more comfortable, plush, absorbant but they never feel as responsive or manouverable, climb as well or descend as confidently. Two frames I would really like to try are early 90's Hei Hei and a 96 Kilauea (Columbus Cyber -mega light).
I know there are a number of other kona afficionados on here, what are your thoughts? Is it just me? Who on here has something critical to say - I am really interested to hear....
