I don't want to speak for someone else but there are serious collectors on this site that won't sell a rare part like this, offering a trade to avoid cutting the steerer shows their commitment to protecting these components for as long as possible. They've already said not interested in selling so I'd politely suggest you respect their wishes.

with all respect mate i'm not sure we operate on the same level of financial. my house isnt for sale until someone offers 2x market price.
Hard disagree. There are a number of bikes in my collection that will never be sold for any price. Sometimes, money don't matter (tonight...and it sure didn't matter yesterday)
last 2 forks i know have been offered for euro 1500.- at some forums and they aren't available anymore...
