kona project 2

others will confirm but i think cm/cm signifies that they are the double butted version and the cm stands for cromoly.

there is another version stamped cm/tb which stands for triple butted , a tad rarer and lighter than the version you have, but yours will still be very nice light forks.

why they didnt stamp them cm/db though i dont know

thanks charlie for the relpy can anyone add more info they are 410 at 1040g wondering if they was triple butted read somewhere that the later forks was a bit heaveyer

Your fork is plain gauge. Yes later forks were a bit heavier, largely because an ahead steerer is obviously longer than threaded, but roughly speaking the so-called triple-butted ones were 750-800g threaded and 800-850g ahead. Plain gauge roughly 200g heavier.

I would generally recommend triple-butted, but for a large/heavy rider or if you ride particularly hard, there could be an argument for the greater rigidity of the plain gauge version.

I have 3 pairs of P2s (well 4 if you count a NOS 700c pair that I've got, just 'cos they were cheap from CRC...). Only one seems to have any butting mentioned - one pair stamped with SB - they are 983g, steerer has been shortened a bit (about 185cm) they're ahead.

2nd pair, no stamps that I can make out, again ahead, shortened steerer (maybe 165) they're 999g.

3rd pair, didn't notice any stamp on the steerer, but only recently removed them from a frame - they're the ones that are fugly with a straight bit below the bottom of the steerer - they suprised me as the lightest of mine at 925g.
