Kona King Kahuna

£400 would be very low for one of these, anyone who pays around that much either bought it a while ago or got an absolute bargain. I paid a lot more than that for mine but I'd been searching for a long time and when you're advertising for one I think you can probably expect to pay a premium price.

I agree with you Steve. You certainly won't find one for £400 or even £500 now. They average around a 1000 USD on ebay (the last few I've seen), and when you add in another 80-100 USD for shipping and Danish or British customs taxes, you're looking at a shitload of money! I was searching for the first one, and had to battle Fatface (I believe...it was someone in here) to get it, so I just put a max of 1400 USD in the last minute to make SURE it was mine  Price was no object for a somewhat rare bike that would last me a lifetime. Hmmm the more I say, the more I want to keep it. Don't ever sell yours, you'll regret it if you do.

im beginning to think that now - but you can only achieve high prices if the market demands and unfortunately for me it didnt - maybe i should have ebay'd it. :?

Dom, what were the specifics? Size, condition, fiddled with (disc tab added on) etc?

Did you sell on the bay?

it was a 19" in mint cond - but yeah it did have a disk tab added which i know for some purists lowers the value but it is a good job and looks neat.
overall im happy with £425 - i bought it for just under that last year and have had many good rides on it!
no i didnt ebay it as i thought someone on here could make better use out of it - maybe i shouldnt be as caring?!

The added disc tabs didn't help, but also the reproduction decals. They weren't that nice either. Original non-disc tab add-ons and original in-tact decals, or at least replacements from Kona, will always fetch a little more. I just bought a 90 Cinder Cone to make a ss city bike. Only £45 plus shipping, but it had a dent on the chainstay and the paint, though original, had been touched up. A minter would have fetched much more.

Also small and large sizes can be harder to sell. Size does matter, eh? !8" versions seem to sell the best. And some people prefer Hei Hei's because they're lighter, though more common.

I think you should. Your bike is your friend, and it should have a good home if it has to go. That's why I put mine up here. Probably have a buyer in Denmark when he sells another bike, but the people here are fantastic and really love and look after their stuff. I feel like I found heaven when I discovered this site.
