Very, very nice bike, anyone's on here? 5 days left and already nearly £900! Sorry if I've outed it, but it was unlikely to stay hidden for long!

What year is it?

Ive been in contact with the seller who claims to have sold the bike now. Dont know why he is letting the auction continue?! :?

It's gone up to over £1000 now, seems a bit strange, if it's already sold, if only there was a having pie and eating it smiley.

Very strange that he is even adding extra info on the bike now.........

This is the message i recieved today when i asked again if the bike sale was still on:

Thanks for your kind offer, sadly i have already secured deal, regards carl

Some eBay sellers do seem to operate on the basis that they can accept a private offer, let the auction run, and in the end sell to whichever party is offering them the most - i.e., repudiating the eBay sale if it doesn't go high enough. I don't know how they get away with it, but lots of people seem to get away with lots of things. Presumably he was telling you that your private offer was less than his other private offer, so you're not in the frame unless you bid more on eBay.

Personally I think it is too much now anyway. Size 17 King Kahunas are rare, but even so the frame isn't worth much more than £500. From there you could build it up to that standard for less than a further £500, and eBay values of bikes are less than the sum of the parts, so I don't see the complete bike having an eBay value in excess of c£800.

bud,
i think he "hedging his bets"..if a seller cant be trusted saying one thing and do another..walk away{although it pains me   }..now that does make sense

Ernie

seems odd, i woulda given him benefit of the doubt and said he didnt realise the bidding would go that high, so just being opportunistic
but he obviously knows what he had cos he paid 800, about the right price as Anthony points out, even more so cos half the value is in the nice parts.
probably just get a slapped wrist from ebay
