There are two main types of Impact (Control Center was another name used) - the original one with a big rubber boot that tends to trap water rather than keep it out, and the later type with an O-ring on the crown race. They are a clever design but not all that durable, since they arrived just before the superior cartridge headsets, which rarely go notchy.
Hopefully BlackCat's works out but if you're not fussed about originality and just want to use the bike, a Tange FL270C goes straight on. It is an extremely good headset. Ignore the stack height; I think that includes a washer which you don't need. You will need 36mm headset spanners. I have one on my 92 Cinder Cone.
