Kona HOT San diego

It's a 1995 frame, or at least it has 1995 decals. The last year that Hots were built by Tom Teesdale and the last year they were made of Tange Prestige Ultimate. Not that you'd know it for sure from the terrible pictures. It would certainly sell for a lot more than $350 on UK eBay, but maybe we have more respect for US hand-builders like TET over here than his own countrymen have? I certainly don't think it means we've got more money to spend than you guys!

I don't think "outing it" here had anything to do with the price.
It was up to $350 30min after the first post.
I am sure that being listed in SoCal where there seems to be a lot of VRCer's had something to do with it.

I really wish you would change your name from "rumphy" to "grumpy".:)

this is why you never 'out' CL bikes.
Good point, I think I will restrict my outings to Ebay from now on. Can't blame the seller.

is that rule #69 of the collective handbook?

I'm with Lawrence on this one. I highly doubt sandman's post contributed to the price going up.

Triple that sentiment. There's no sticky here about not outing CL ads like there is on other sites.

Surely it's a good thing to alert fellow enthusiasts to a rare bike being available. From the point of view of the retro community, it's clearly better if somebody who really wants a 1995 Teesdale Hot buys this for $350 than for somebody who doesn't want it but is just looking to make a fast buck to get it for $125. In the latter case, it'd be up for sale for $500 pretty soon anyway.

It's also the case that many Craigslist ads are of bad quality, so without confirmation of whether the bike is what it purports to be you'd be unwise to part with any cash. Confirmation, or otherwise, is another thing that the community can contribute.
