Kona Hei Hei 1996

No worries

Lovely bike, haven't ridden my Hei Hei for ages...might have to crack it out as it's dry

Stick the weight up when you get a chance to get it on the scales...reckon it'll be sub 20lb?

That's pretty good

TBH any MTB that weighs 25lb or under to me is light and useable, rather have a bike which weighs a tad more but can take some abuse and isn't going to break.

Think my Hei Hei comes in around 22.5 with full XTR, Duke sus forks and pretty boggo parts (no carbon) which I was more than happy with

*sigh* I used to have a Hei Hei built up almost the same as that. Sold the frame, the brakes went on my wife's MTB and the rest went on a second hand Global th1.0 frame because I wanted disc brakes.

Got a Global th1.5 now with original Hope Minis, Rebas and Middleburn cranks. I'm thinking I might swop them for a carbon FSA compact crankset. Gotta rob a bank first though.

A really lovely bike. Can I ask if those decals are the originals, or recreated? Either way they look great.

Perfect indeed. I'd seen Gil's name associated with decals. I'll certaintly look to him when the time comes to respray my Kilauea.
If you ever condsider selling your 17" Hei Hei, you will have at least one very interested individual

Any update on how that fork rides?

sorry nimbus I managed to neglect to respond to your post.

I have found myself night riding a huge amount and night riding and ridgid forks are not something I think go together so I have been riding with an 80mm Fox fork up front.

I did get a few off road rides in on the titanium fork and tbh it is just like riding a P2 when you hit a big lump
but on small rutted sections is more compliant and tracks better than a steel fork
almost like how negative suspension helps you over holes.
