Kona hahanna build pics please!

Hi there, was scrolling through old Retro bike posts and saw this lonely post sitting with zero responses. Thought i might share my recent Hahanna build. Its circa 1998. I believe ones a 14" and the other is 18"

the 18" is going to have modern-ish mechanicals, my Mechs are now all XT's and am saving up for an XT crank. My wifes 14" (which incidently was the bike that got all this retro refurbishment madness started) is going to have more period bits (trying at least)

BTW anyone know what kind of stem and handle came with the 14" Hahannas. when we bought the bike very used it had a Zoom straight bar with a matching Zoom short stubby DH like stem. I've since replaced them with Kona Stems but was wondering if it was supposed to come with a short stubby stem

Well my insanity continues as i'm tormented by the fact that the forks are really heavy (cheapey Suntours) and appear a little bit long. Am trying to decide on 410mm Project 2's or some retro suspension fork like a Z3 or Judy or go for a new 80mm Air fork. The project 2's are interesting cos it'll be great on the road but pose quite a challenge on the dirty bits, retro forks will be nice, slim and light but it would be impossible for me to get them repaired here.... sigh decisions decisions decisions :)

Do enjoy the Hahanna photos...

Surely a Hannanah build is like any other entry level bike build, Most would be original or built with modern equivalent componants. You would get the odd blingy build but they wouldnt be that common.

Or I suppose with Kona's theres probably also a world of them being used as single speeds.

End of the day, take your choice, go for either a period build or something more "modern". Probably not worth hanging too much in the way of flashy gear off it if you want to ride it.

Wow Rojo.. thats some pretty slack angles with the head/seat tube... what are they running? 100mm Bombers? Its a pretty bike for sure!

I esp like the All silver cranks... i'm really liking the idea of all silver cranks but the truth is the vintage (1998) saw cranks in Black / Silver as opposed to all silver, so going all silver would be forcing it into an age group beyond its years.. in car parlance, kinda like fitting chrome bumpers on a 1985 VW Golf.
