Kona Fire Mountain [update: bought, collected, pics]

That frame is a great colour. I'd be for losing as much red and blue as possible to best show off the frame.
Anyway, good to see it coming along. Enjoy.

Yeah you’re not wrong there but the clamp is Hope and headset Chris King and neither will fit/suit my other bikes....
I guess I could sell them?
The pedals I had spare....

But yeah green and red isn’t ideal....
Changing the stem for black and regular bars either silver or black - I have a choice, so watch this space

A bit more tinkering and cleaning today... trying to improve the shift and indexing
Headset tightened and brakes set up correctly with new Clarke’s front pads
Binned off the old wheels, the Joytech hubs were bent... cassette is garbage and rocks.... rear tyre is ok (Kenda), front garbage

Getting there... slowly

Cranks are gorgeous, FSA middle ring and Sugino big.. Hollowtech cranks I’ve been told.

What’s going on with that rear mech in the last photo is it stuck on its pivot bolt ?

Yeah it looks mad but it works ok... kind of looks like an 11 speed
I’ll check it’s pivoting ok... to be fair 90% of the whole bike is/was f***ed so it wouldn’t surprise me :)

(Edit) however the two XTR mechs are lush! I can’t claim they work better than my Altus stuff, but boy are they well finished! Just a wipe of the cloth and they sparkle

Does anyone know the stem dimensions for the original ‘92 Fire mountain? Reach and rise? Thanks

I think the stem length/rise changed with frame size, the shortest i have seen is a 100mm, there is one on ebay for sale, just checked and its just sold.

And yes, that rear mech needs sorting :)

Thanks.
Yeah I’ve had a fiddle with the mech and it was stuck “open” for want of a better word, on the return spring. I’ve lubed it and it seems better but really they all need taking off, soaking and new cables fitting...

Oh and I’ve started operation remove the red, new pedals and seat clamp. Also new wheels and tires as these were crap.

Update:
New seatpost clamp - Thomson yum

“Fixed” the derailleur position

New cable guide (anyone know the bolt size? It wasn’t the same as the one with the new guide)

Plus New (old) grey DMR V12 pedals (bought off here) - lol I forgot to take a pic of this XD
