I have had the bike for a good few years, bought it believing it was an early '90s explosif frame which had been resprayed and pimped in terms of components. Its been a great bike and while it looks and feels like an explosif, I still have not been able to confirm whether it is actually an explosif or not, and what year it is - perhaps someone can help me. The frame serial number is T90021697, does this ring any bells? cheers Shaun

Well the T9 designation doesn't ring any bells, I only know about F and H designations, but I suppose it's possible that T pre-dates F and H (it relates to the factory that the frame was built in). The following zero indicates that the frame was built in 1990, so it is either a 1990 or a 1991 bike. The rest of the number is of no use in identification.shaunb67":2cn3gybu said:
If it is a 90 or 91 Explosif, it is made of Tange Prestige Concept, and they didn't use that tubeset for any other model at that time, so that will identify it as an Explosif. If it doesn't have the blue Concept sticker on the seat tube, the other way of identifying Concept is that the top and down tubes are of the same thickness and are characterised by an oval shape that also tapers wider at the front - it goes from 27mm (wide) by 30 at the rear to 30 by 34 at the front.
The photos below are of a 90 and a 91 Explosif, so if your paint and decals are original, it's quite easy to tell between a 90 and a 91!

Thanks for the quick responses. The bike had a respray before i got it in 2001 so there is no blue Concept sticker visable and the decals are a newer design. It was also pimped with Pace RC30s and Raceface components. I will take another look at the frame, measure the tubes and also take some pics and post them. Thanks again guys for your help on this.
