Konas haven't had a bridge-type cantilever stop since sometime before 1990 (if at all). So, it's definitely not a '97.

Kosher? I'm not sure.

Kona Retro shows the 97 Explosif (Columbus Max) with different dropouts at the rear:

The 1998 Kilauea has them. It's Reynolds 631.

The seller seems to know his stuff.
So MAYBE the Kona Retro catalogue is wrong?... and the 97 Explosifs DID have the same dropouts as the Ebay bike?

Either way, it looks like one of the nicer frames.

I think you're right - my 97 Kilauea has the same dropouts as the eBay bike, so the catalogue frame is different from the production frames in that respect (could have been a 96 frame with 97 paint/decals?)

No Mr Z, if you notice he does say in the narrative that he had the canti bridge welded on there himself because he prefers cantis to Vs (??!!) I think it probably is a 97 because it has the fm cabling on the tt and the rm under the bb.

Its mine! Its def kosher haha- but i see what you mean now with the dropouts-

When I bought it it had the original paintjob in orange and the original Explosif decals so.....

I am selling because I have a strict bike policy of 1 in 1 out- and I've got a steel hardtail that I prefer

Paint job resto cost £117.50  , which is money down the drain!
