Hello Chaps,

I am starting to plan the build for the Explosif that is winging it's way to me from EdEdwards.

I wonder of any of you know the paint code for the beautiful green colour that was used in 1995-6?

I am planning on going for a mostly XT build.

Pics in the readers bikes section once I have something to show!

Cheers :D

You're going to sacrilegiously paint a 95 Explosif in the 96 colour??? (collapses, holding throat and gasping for breath)

Well peace be upon your soul, and blessed be they who can find forgiveness in their hearts. I think your only hope of redemption is to ask [email protected] for his mercy and guidance. But don't tell him I sent you.

Actually I suppose the other possibility is that Argos might know. A bit of a long shot, but they've been the official Kona repairers since BITD and they might have had to repaint a 96 Explosif in its original colour at some time in the past. But whether they keep records is another issue.

I didn't know they did a 'lovely' green in 96!

Sorry it is a personal taste. The red is much more classic. My favourite colours range was from 97 - ALL of them were stunning; the Kilaeua purple the Explosif ('Team Mustard'?!) gold the rich blue Cinder Cone the uber deep metalic green of the Lava Dome and of course the stunning Bomber Red Kula.

All really bold but none cluttered or messy.

I think 96 the worst colour year for me. The green explosif is a little bacterial for me and all of the other colours (like the wussy Kilauea turquoise) are just a little 'washed out'.

Any colour but '96 green please!

Or perhaps you can prove me wrong? It always good to see a new rebuild. I wait with baited breath! :D

Thanks for the comments guys!

I do really like the green, and I know it is not the right year but watch this space for the build, I have some NOS M737 XT and am hunting the odder / rarer bits so hopefully should have something very period correct and useable.

Besides the green is similar to my other toy:
