I've seen many alloy frames that had been noticeably notched on the chainstay where a large knobblie tyre had worn it away , kinda amazing as you would think the tyre would wear . I expect someone smart to tell me how that works now .
There aren't many xc tyres wide enough to be too wide for this frame, so I don't see how he has managed that. But maybe it's the fact that it's bad on one side and not on the other that explains it. But in that case, how is that consistent with his claim that the frame is straight? If the tyre is rubbing badly on one side but not on the other, that's the classic case of stays out of alignment.
