Tell me about Kona Curve. Just seen some up for sale (sold) they are a very interesting looking brake. Do they work? Are they frowned upon? Is there some snobbishness about them?

Interested in pms

TIA

they come standard on my 1997 kona lavadome they seem to work but you must remember they are canti's p.s i dont think there worth a great deal

For what was, in essence, an " Original Equipment Model " ( O.E.M. ) brake I always liked them. Quite elegant. Trouble with even the best of cantis though is the " but nowhere near as good as V brakes " conundrum.

Thanks for the replies, what will the problems with adjusting? being reading a bit on others, how many ways can they be adjusted?

the tension in the spring can only be adjusted with the bolt that the spring is attached to and then locking this bolt down with the allen key bolt..... its a real fiddle.

They look cool and once they are set up with the correct amount of spring tension (the same both sides) they work well. BUT they are a real arse to set up....

i was given a set of these in 96 when a mate upgraded to v's. i loved them. they were fiddly to set up but were a great improvement in power from my prevoius cantis. i still have them in my spares box. cant bear to part with them

@Olliepen - thanks good answer, all the stuff you see on the net just says they are a pain to set up - first explanation i've read.

@lewis1641 - i can see that, they are a unique looking things.
