I picked this up on ebay around a year ago as a project, but I don't have the time nor the money for it so i'm selling.
I was told when I bought it that it's a Kona Lavadome from 1989, however looking at pictures of other old kona's, I expect it might actually be a cindercone. The guy who owned it had it resprayed so there are no decals on it, but i'm sure those of you with a keener eye than me will be able to confirm the model and year etc.
I have no idea which parts are original to the bike, I expect atleast the girvin flexstem was put on afterwards.
It's set up single speed at the moment (vertical dropouts but I managed to find a rear cog that pretty much works with the middle chainring), but I will include the front a rear derailleurs that came with it, and the small and large chainrings. Brake and gear levers were some sort of shimano sti, with the gear shifters cut off them and standalone ones added. Both shifters were totally jiggered so I chucked them (hence the singlespeed)
The saddle that came with it was pretty shagged so I put on a specialized that I had lyring around. Grips are an old pair of lizard skins peaty's that I had lying around, and the pedals are brave flat star, again I had them knocking about the house.
The front wheel is missing a spoke, but otherwise both wheels are pretty much straight and true. Hubs have been regreased and have no play with lots of life left in the bearings. headset has also been regreased with plenty of life left.
The bottom bracket has a lot of play in it. I know its an old loose bearing jobby so I expect it can be disasembled, regreased, and put back together in working order. The seat post also has a slight backward bend in it. It will go maybe another 1 into the frame from where it is in the pictures. it is still usable (clamp etc is all fine), but if you need the seat much lower than this you'd probably need a new post.
Seat tube measure approximately 18 1/2", top tube approx. 21 1/2"
I'm looking for around £125 ono. I would prefer local pickup (carlisle, uk) but I can post to the UK at buyers cost. Need this gone by beginning of next week so I will consider reasonable offers.
Note: bottle cage and rear light are not included.
