Cheers for the kind words guys.
Sinnerman, just read your Dave Yates and Prestige thread end to end and May have to use that as inspiration for my next build.
I always fancied a Chas Roberts, are they still available at reasonable money?

Thank bud,...... 8)

Chas Roberts, they are out there, and i have to say, the dogs bolox, framesets, are just that, the boloxs, i cant say i have a better steel frame, because i dont think i do.
Light, well executed, responsive, perfect angles (for me anyway) and exceptional build quality....!!!!

There was a stunning early 90s whitespider on evilbay a few months back that sold for £450 complete, which i thought was a steal....!!!!
I shall keep my eyes open for you mate, and look forward to seeing another build thread from you when you get one.

Top work on the kona by the way, love the colours....!!!!

It doesn't appear to have adversely affected the handling and I run the fork pretty soft so with the sag it feels bang on - Still a nice and quick front end. Fork is around 1600g as well so that helps.
You don't need to run the fork soft for the geometry's sake - if the stem is about 70-80mm then your set up is fine anyway. A 100mm fork with 70-80mm stem will give similar handling to a 60mm fork with 110-120mm stem (such as the frame may originally have been designed for).

I personally would have preferred it with correct 1996 decals from Gil_M, which would have actually saved you money compared to those eBay ones, but I suppose the red colour does give it a certain 'fun bike' persona which may suit its purpose in life.

Re style

Thanks for your kind words but things have changed a little since I made this post. A bit of fine tuning and restyling has resulted in this....
Did the Marin trail on it on Saturday and it rode like a dream!
