kona 1995 cinder cane shim and post sizes HELP

hello all help please need to fit my use post 25.0 to myold kona was told to get a 26.6 shim NOT RIGHT wasted £6 on shim
help please the 26.6 was to loose and the split in frame for clamp was going to far together
allso what size front derailer do i need for it frame size
and can i get a replacement impact head set ?

If you write tech@konaworld they will probably be able to tell you front mech and seatpost size for a 95 CC. Probably plenty of people in here with that model, so if you can find them via search, you can always send a PM and ask. The seatpost is probably 27.0, but could be a 27.2. Don't think they did 26.8 anymore by 95. Impact headset you might be able to find used here. Was going to get one of my friends 95 (?) Kona Koa along with a fork, but he sold the whole bike.

If it helps my Kilauea is currently running a 26.8 despite it apparently needing a 27.0 :?

You can fit a 26.8 into a 27.0 seatpost tube, so you might want to check if it's correct. The downside of overtightening the clamp to make it fit is that it can warp the tube (advice from kona tech when trying to find the right size for my 90 cinder cone.)

i want use a use post 25.0 i was told on here its a 26.6 shim NO way off need larger or the frame part split will warp as i tighten up
what else can i use for headset instead of orig ? i love the kona stem so want to keep that too cheers :? :? :?

You seem to have a few threads running on the same subject... :?

Anyhoo, Sheldon says 26.6 for your frame and i'm in no position to argue; however, clearly you are so all i can suggest is going along to your LBS and having the tube properly measured.

As for headset, the Impact/Velocity was a pretty low stack height (Impact even lower than Velocity), so if you wish to retain your original forks you'll need somthing with a stack height to match. If you still have the top-cup and lock ring from the headset, then i'd suggest finding a donor headset, fitting the bottom half and swapping the top bearings in to the remains of the Impact. I did this on my Lava Dome using an old LX headset and it's doing the job nicely.
