I put some new internal liners in my bike yesterday, and crossed the two gear ones over each other inside the frame, they go into the frame at opposite holes... now I don't get any cable rub as the geare outers don't touch the head tube :D

Good tip, and as I'm building a Klein at the moment do you have any tips for threading inners into a frame that currently doesn't have any fitted? And also, where's a good place to get them from? :D

i have some inner liners for ya, pm me your address, i used a new gear cable and a magnet to get them through, bit fiddly but does the job!

wow, I didn't think of that, I'd read something somewhere before about using a thread, blocking all the other holes off, and getting a vacuum cleaner to the hole, but that just sounds like a faff.

Pm incoming. 8)

I done the same cross over thing with my cables  8)
And the vac cleaner works great you don't even have to block the other holes if you have enough suction  1800watts is good just tie a thin piece of cotton onto a nut and thread through the inner liner and put in the hole and suck with the hoover on the exit hole you want to use then feed through the cotton while pulling gently.........hey presto jobs a goodun

I begin by putting the frame on a carpeted floor so that the hole that you want the cable to come out of is on the bottom. Next, take an inner cable that's long enough to be able to stick out of the holes at each end of the tube for several inches, hold it so that one end of the cable is lined up with one of the holes, and mark it with a felt pen in line with the hole at the other end, so you know how far to feed it in. Slide the cable into one of the holes, almost up to the pen mark, and feed it a little farther as you rotate it. Making sure that it doesn't get frayed at the end, keep doing that until it goes through the second hole. Then slide the plastic cable liner over it until it comes out at the other end, and then hold it there while you pull the inner cable out and then slide the inner cable you want to use through it.

The liners themselves show up in sets on eBay, and can also be bought in bulk from anywhere that sells plastic tubing, such as http://www.protubing.com/
