Klein Pulse newbie rebuild

Hi there,

I’m in the process of building up a rigid mountain bike based on a Klein Pulse frame – it has the makings of a very light bike, let down at the moment by a cheap and nasty set of Quando wheels and a heavy, non branded chromoly fork. Ultimately, you will be pleased to know, I intend to build up with appropriate retro parts, but in the meantime, I need to get a bike on the road quickly, using parts I already have or can acquire cheaply. With light and cheap in mind, any suggestions please for wheels and fork for non-retro build up? I’ve seen Mosso alloy forks on Ebay which are light and certainly quite cheap, any thoughts on these please? Wheels, any ideas please – I’m a roadie and know very little about mtb stuff.

i am also building a klein at the mo here are my plans

klein pulse pro frame
cannondale p-bone forks
fred salmon bar stem combo
chris king headset
xtr 950 hubs laced to mavic 717 rims single speed conversion to rear 15 tooth
xtr 950 v brake levers and xtr 951 v brakes
odi attack grips
middleburn single speed chainset with 32 tooth ring
carbon seat post and flite saddle.

should be light and fun

I've got a set of On-One rigid forks on my Klein Pulse. They don't look like authentic Klein forks but the Pulses all came with Rock Shox originally. The On-Ones are the correct geometry to replace bounce. They also come in a variety of colours so you can do something a bit different, I've got the frame red just now with black forks.

i have some cannondale p bones i would sell, i think they suit Kleins pretty well, i have a pair on my 2001 Attitude commuter.
