Klein MC2 shipping from Germany to U.S.

I bought a pair of Gator fade MC2 bars off EBAY from a guy in Germany. He won't use Paypal, requests a money transfer instead, and, AND wants 140 euros to ship them here to California. I looked up shipping from California to Germany via USPS and it's about $37.00.

140 Euros seems a bit, no, very high. Can anyone chime in with their shipping knowledge from Germany to the US?

Thanks

Germans often use GLS/DHL or Deutsch post.

141 euros is really much. F.e. shipping from holland to U.S. will be 35 euro's priority shipping and insurance till 146 euro....... But that is with thedutch TNTpost.

Shipping from germany is a little more expensive but that much....

Good luck,

Cheers,
Martin

Ship them to someone in UK and use a the batton in the fantastically complicated inaugral Retro Repack Relay.

Or pay the postage, after biting bullet of course!

shipping from Germany to the US is 32Euro for an insured and trackable parcel up to 5kg weight using DHL (which is the parcel division of the German postal service). That's for a combination of ground and air, 2-3 weeks runtime. Included in the price are up to 70Euro insurance.Insurance is actually dependent on the weight and i would guess that the MC1 would have an insurance of around 50Euro automatically included.

You can buy extra insurance. E.g. 120Euro insurance would be 6Euro making a total of 38Euro shipping costs.

If you want it faster (air, 6days) which is their Premium option it would be 58Euro incl. 120Euro insurance.

The cheapest DHL option is uninsured ground and that would be 13Euro.

Tell the seller to check the Deutsche Post online calculator here

http://www.deutschepost.de/dpag?tab=1&skin=hi&check=yes&lang=de_DE&xmlFile=1004909

And tell him that he has no additional burden and paperwork compared to shipping within Germany. 140Euro is insane. Are you sure that this is not the total for the MC1 AND shipping??

Send me a PM if you need help to get him the money or with the communication.

Carsten

Agree with that 140 Euro is preposterous. I bought an MC2 from Germany and shipped to the U.S. for less than half of that. When I say an MC2, I mean the whole bike. I would clarify things with the seller. 140 Euros is an overnight price for fedex.
