Why have you removed so much of the carbon surface while sanding? Normaly the surface has to be a bit shiny after stripping the paint when the Boron Carbon is in original good conditinon?

Shiny surfaces do not promote a good grip for the primer.
The amount of Boron is a little random as you know it is all done by hand.
I guess all Adroits are slightly different.

Why do you post your pictures in two threats?

Because I was of the understanding you were keen to see pictures.
I cant assume that you have been looking at my thread.

Any progress?

So you remove the carbon to get a sticky surface?

On the seat stay is no more fabric to see like it should be. Why have you sanded so much material down with a coarse sandpaper? It should look like the chainstay with some little yellow edges.

Why is this frame blasted?

No just scuffed

For me it had green edges. I think it was a product called bondo

This was from maybe 2 years ago. I had the frame blasted in the non boron areas.

Anyway this must be very boring for people...
I'll let you carry on posting painting pictures...

Bondo is a 3M body filler used to smooth surfaces. You can remove the Bondo completely during the stripping process. It is not underneath the carbon layer.

Why don`t you remove the Bondo in this way? You get a nice and clear boron carbon layer on the frame and you do not damage the carbon surface.

The frame shown in your picture is not scuffed.
What is the reason you sanded so much material down with a coarse sandpaper?

Is it to get a light frame?

1Martin - I understand that English is maybe not your first language so it may not be easy for you to express your questions/answers as easily as the native English speakers. However the way you are asking the questions sounds a bit confrontational and abrupt.

In the interest of keeping this thread useful and genial to all (which to me it is despite not being interested in Kleins, only painting techniques) you may want to adjust your posts accordingly.

Funny, I thought the questions were through puzzlement and an enquiring tone definitely not confrontational

When you have two people who effectively do the same but achieve it in different ways and questions are allowed then questions will be asked.

Certianly if you've followed the thread you will see both painters have been respectful of each other all the way through and given that... I see no reason to assume that has or will change and it's a bit unfair to assume it has

Those ax paints are quite impressive martin

Just goes to show that you have to be very careful as one statement might sound ok to one person and may offend another!
Just trying to make sure it stays civil, as I'm enjoying this.

I've followed the thread, that's not the impression I've formed ;)
