Ok guys, here she is finished, my aim was to produce a modernish MTB with old skool looks, have i achieved it? i will let you guys be the judge.
I wanted the frameset to do all the talking so i didn't want any "bling", does XTR count? but anyway every component is subtle compared to the frame IMO.
In my mind i'm finding hard to look at it as a modern MTB with the colour it is, bearing in my mind this colourway is now 20 years old and still think it looks uber cool, but in this guise with a 80mm travel front end just doesn't look right to me!
The guys in my LBS loved it and even cycling it back the 1 mile heads were turning, so glad i opted to shave the rear brake mounts and chose the forks i did, also the Fred Salmon bar/stem is a success, but there is still something i can't put my finger on.
