Kids' Bikes. What to Do?

I don't know what to get. I'm well out of touch with modern stuff. The twins have out grown their Specialized Hotrocks. These are the 24" wheel version dual suspension versions. The female have of the twins is growing like a weed. She's only 11 and is already 5'4" I want bikes that will last a while at least. I'm thinking 26" wheels in a hardtail format.

I'm hoping next time it'll be road bikes but until then, what have the Retrobike crowd got their kids?

myns only on a 12inch wheel bike lol. why dont you get say 26inch wheel 15 inch frames. iam 5.5and ment to have about 16inch. iam just building a hardrock thats 15. feels like a big bike bar the top tubes low so suit smaller people ect

Take a look at Islabikes of going new, they go for really strong money secondhand. Two years riding will cost you almost nothing. They are heavily optimized for kids being light and reliable rather than having fashionable faddy features.

Otherwise, small Konas work well.

Get a tiny Kona with 26" wheels. As they grow, you can transfer the kit onto larger frames.

You could even get them to help out when you transfer the kit over. That way they'll (hopefully) gain an interest in it :D
