Kia Ceed issues

Just bought a Kia Ceed - 2007 CRDI 1.6.
since then its been back in the garage for 2 issues:
1: knocking noise from back end - turned out to be a stone in the rear spring coil
2: fuel filter light illuminated - water in the fuel filter. drained and now fine.

However, driving off this morning to work (cold start) and i mmediately notice that the car will NOT rev above 2800rpm.
this is common throughout all 5 gears.

Also, a second problem - at around 65-70mph and if sustained for around 3 minutes, there is a pulsing sound (a bit like a the effect a helicopter flying over head makes) except there was no helicopter around and when i started to break (after exiting the dual carriage way) the pulsing noise got worse and seemed to be coming from the front nearside wheel.

The garage so far has been helpful and sorted out the first 2 issues under warranty/since i reported the issues within the first couple of days after purchasing the car.
however, i'm not familiar with warranties/second hand car dealers and what my rights are/what the warranties generally cover. am i best to keep reporting this issues to the car dealership (not a Kia one, just your usual second hand car dealership with all sorts of cars), or should i go straight to a Kia garage and have them look at it under the RAC Warranty that comes with the car...???

i feel like this is just a bit of bad luck as the car generally is in good shape, with full Kia service history (last service in January this year) and no advisories on the MOT. new discs/pads and tyres as well.

I actually really dislike cars for this very reason. its been problem after problem with this car - regardless of how minor the firs 2 issues are, it seems the problems are getting worse/more technical now!

the cars done 80K miles, so pretty average for a car of its age....

Pulsing from front wheel area could have something to do with abs, however am sure that a light would come on if any problem with abs. You may just have a loose brake pad like I had on my vectra, was a terrible knocking and not just while braking, it would happen out of the blue. Wasn't sure what it was as it's wasn't a ball joint kind of knock, more like something around drive shaft. Anyway took wheel off to find a pad had dropped loose and brake was binding slightly at times making noise worse.
Good luck getting it right

Its a REALLY common problem!!!
It certainly seems so, looked it up and it's a common thread on Kia forums. Apparently a better fuel filter or something like that cures it...
The pulsing noise I've mentioned and the garage are looking to get it back on the ramps as soon as. The dealer is being alright. It's under a platinum each warranty, but not sure if these issues will be covered by it..

sorry to hear about your issues with the Ceed. These are really fine and reliable cars. Our 2008 CRDi SW has now covered 180.000 km's without having any issues. The only repair, besides regulary service at the Kia dealership, had been replacing brake pads and discs on all 4 corners at 130.000 km's. None of our other cars had been that hasslefree like the Ceed.

Kia forums are the top adress for hints and tips.

I'm certainly feeling like it's going through the 'bad' section on Honest Johns website and ticking off the list of issues! Thankfully though, the list is fairly short - one of the reasons I went for it. I'm hoping its just a bit of bad luck. The garage are being good. It's all under warranty, so it's really just a bit inconvenient especially since I'm going away soon.hopefully it'll be sorted once I'm back!

26-3-2015: Report of 75k mile KIA cee'd 1.6CRDi failing to rev beyond 2,800rpm. MAF sensor checked, Fuel filter replaced. EGR valve isolated. Doesn't have a DPF, so most likely to be a broken up oxygenating car converter matrix.

I'd say replace the fuel filter entirely as these are very sensitive to any interruption

I'm very well acquainted with HJ's website! Some very detailed issue logs and model history on there. Great resource if you know what you're after and aren't afraid to trawl through the info. That and the MOT history checker, there's very little you can't find out about cars and their potential issues these days. I do it to any used car that has the number plate in the advert ;)

Re:

The noise of being followed by helicopters turned out to be a wheel bearing on its last legs on my old nissan Almera so could be the same thing. Similar to yours it occurred within quite a specific speed range and was a whup whup whup sort of noise.
