KHS Montana pro, MAG21 fit help

Hi there,

I recently bought a lovely condition 1993 KHS Montana Pro, full xt mtb.
It has RST,s fitted. 1" threadless
But I went and bought some MAG 21 forks. Still in the box with original recite. Nice condition. that are however threaded.

Need some advice on what too do know.

Can I fit them straight onto the bike. As there seams too be 2 spacers on the RSTs
Or do I need too fit a new headset n stem. If so any advice on headset sourcing ect

Or should I sell em n keep the RSTs



Anyone keen in buying the khs let me know, it's 16"

I own the same bike, mint condition, which bike I put Schwalbe Marathon road tires and Crankbrother's Eggbeater 2 pedals on, to use as my roadbike. Love it!

Still has the original rigid front fork.

What color is yours?

You would need to change your aheadset for a threaded headset. Is the steerer tube long enough to stick out the top with enough thread? It would be your cheapest option to change the headset. You will also need to change your stem for a quill stem. Alternatively, you could search for a threadless steerer for your forks, try the swap section in the for sale forum. You might be lucky? Its purple colour with pink fleks in the paint work

Also the mag forks are same length as fitted rst,s which are threadless
So no space above the top tube length

Does this mean they are not a compatable fit if a threaded headset was bought...

May have too keep current setup if so

If the steerer is the same length as your rst's then unless it has an awful lot of thread then no it won't fit. If however it is threaded far enough down to allow the headset top race and lock nut to screw on then you can cut it to length.

Ah. Bit far! :-D Are you able to remove old forks and stick the mags in its place, then take a photo so we can see how much thread sticks out the top. If it is the same length as your old forks I'm guessing you will be ok.
