A couple of weeks ago I bought the sandblasted track frame you can see below. It was advertised as a Giacomelli, but when I looked at the lugs the name Kessels (and subsequently Merckx) quickly came to mind. Although I wasn't really sure what to do with it, I knew I just had to have it.
When the frame finally arrived at my doorstep I immediately checked the frame details against another frame I have lying around which I believe to be a Kessels. The drilled spearpoint lugs are exactly the same, so it suppose it has to be a Kessels. On the other hand, I have yet to see another Kessels track or pista frame and the fork crown doesn't seem to check out either.
At this point I am trying to figure out what to do with the frame. I would love to restore it, even though I have absolutely no need for a track bike. But before going all out on it, I would like to know for sure it worth spending time and money on it.
What do you guys think? Am I right about the frame being a Kessels? And it is indeed a high end one or just a low quality look alike...
